Dr. John Minalt, DDS

Dr. John Minalt practices general, family, cosmetic, and implant dentistry in the western Chicago suburbs.  He is the premier dentist in the area for your implant and restorative needs.

Dr. Minalt graduated from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry after attending Loyola University for his undergraduate studies.  He has been practicing dentistry since 1988.  He completed advanced training in dental implants at Medical College of Georgia as well as a hospital-based general anesthesia residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.  Dr. Minalt is a leader in the dental field of IV Sedation and is a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.  He is also a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, Academy of Conscious Sedation, and American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

“I have 25 years of experience in all types of dental implants and have an extremely high rate of success, even in the most difficult cases.  Dental implants are not a ‘one size fits all’ dentistry procedure.  They require experience, training, dedication and compassion for each patient’s unique situation. I strongly recommend anyone considering dental implant to research the dentist’s experience and their ability to perform the procedure.  This will make for a positive experience and outcome that will last for many, many years.”

When not in the office, Dr. Minalt enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking, cycling, and fixing things around his home.

Dr. Kate Conti, DDS

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, Dr. Conti graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska.  Following her graduation, Dr. Conti joined the office in July 2012.  She is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and Chicago Dental Society.  In January 2015, she traveled to Guatemala with her husband to provide dental care to those who do not have access or cannot afford it.

Dr. Conti enjoys educating patients about their oral health and helping them address their dental concerns.  "I consider a patient's oral health a mirror to their overall health.  I am passionate about helping patients realize that disease or infection present in the mouth is linked to the rest of their body as well.  I love to help patients understand, to answer all of their questions, and to work with them to meet their dental goals.  I want them to feel very comfortable with me, and I love the personal relationships that form in the process!"  Dr. Conti especially loves working on cosmetic cases, where she can visibly see a positive change in the patient's attitude when they leave the office with a transformed smile.

Outside of work, Dr. Conti enjoys spending time with her husband Mike, traveling to warm locations, cheering on the Chicago Bulls, and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Betsy Bruen, DDS

Dr. Betsy Bruen knew from a young age that she wanted to be a dentist.  She saw dentistry as the perfect mix of science, attention to detail, and building relationships.  Speaking of relationships, Dr. Bruen is Dr. Conti’s younger sister.  The two are friends both inside and outside of the office and genuinely enjoy working together and creating a true “family practice” environment.

Dr. Bruen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2010, and then she followed her sister to Creighton University School of Dentistry, graduating in 2014.  While in dental school, she volunteered with Give Kids a Smile and One World Clinic.  She is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and Chicago Dental Society.

“I thoroughly enjoy working with people.  I believe that it is my job as a dentist for my patients to feel comfortable and happy in the dental chair.  It is important to actually listen to my patients and address their needs, giving them the time to answer their questions properly to make them fully aware of their oral health.”

Out of the office, Dr. Bruen enjoys spending time with her husband Conor, yoga and all forms of exercise, cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, and baking all things sweet (brushing her teeth afterwards, of course).

Services

Preventive

Protect. As dentists, it is our job to help you maintain and protect the overall health of your mouth.  Our prevention services (cleanings, exams, and radiographs) are aimed at detecting and protecting your teeth and mouth from pathology and disease.  During your cleaning appointments, we will examine your mouth and identify any restorative needs.  We will work together to formulate a treatment plan to address your specific needs.

Implants

Replace.  Dental implants are a permanent solution to replace missing teeth.  They look and feel as natural as your own teeth, but do not discolor or decay.  Dr. Minalt has extensive, highly advanced training in dental implantology.  When a tooth is lost, structure changes, and bone loss occurs in the place where the tooth was lost as well as around the surrounding teeth.  Replacing a lost tooth is key to ensuring the gums, bone, and surrounding teeth remain strong and healthy.  Implants are a highly effective solution.  They last longer and are less damaging to surrounding teeth than bridges, and they completely eliminate the discomfort and restrictions of dentures.  If you would like more information on how dental implants can work for you, please call our office to make an appointment.  For more information, you can visit the BioHorizons Patient Connect website at  www.biohorizons.com/patients.aspx

Cosmetics

Enhance.  People choose aesthetic dental procedures for various reasons – to repair a defect or crooked teeth, to treat an injury, or to improve overall appearance.  Whatever the reason, the ultimate goal is to restore a beautiful smile.  Common aesthetic procedures can correct misshaped, discolored, chipped, or missing teeth.  We offer a variety of cosmetic procedures including bonding, contouring and reshaping, veneers, and bleaching.  Our goal is to keep you smiling with a smile you love.

Root Canals

Relieve.  When the nerves and blood vessels at the center of a tooth become infected, the tooth requires a root canal.  We perform root canals on anterior, premolar, and molar teeth.  In most cases, your root canal can be completed in one visit.  Root canal therapy is a remarkable treatment with a very high rate of success.  It involves removing the diseased tissue, stopping the spread of infection, and restoring the healthy portion of the tooth.

General Dentistry

Repair. If a tooth has decay, has been broken down or worn, or has had a root canal, it needs to be restored.  We offer a variety of treatment options including tooth-colored fillings, inlays, onlays, and crowns.  Regardless of your treatment choice, our doctors pay attention to detail and take their time to restore your teeth to as close to the original form as possible.

Comfort Management

Relax.   Apprehension, anxiety, or fear of dental treatments often prevents many patients from seeing necessary dental treatment.  We offer IV sedation to help make our patients more comfortable during their office visits.  IV sedation allows for long dental appointments – procedures that usually require multiple visits can be accomplished in a single sedated visit.  Surgical procedures such as multiple tooth extractions, wisdom tooth extractions, implant surgery, gum surgery, or root canals can make for long, arduous, and often stressful appointments.   IV sedation reduces the stress and discomfort that are associated with these types of procedures because the patient is unaware of what is taking place.

Prosthetics

Replace.  A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent teeth.  For missing teeth, we can make dentures or removable partial denture for you.  Our office has a complete in-house denture lab for repairs, realigns, and complete denture fabrications.  Over time, adjusting dentures may be necessary as your mouth naturally changes.  Our dentists are often able to see a patient for an adjustment or repair on the same day.

Periodontal Care

Cleanse.  Advanced gum disease sometimes requires the dentist or hygienist to clean below the gum line to remove stubborn, crusty deposits called tartar or calculus which harbor bacteria.  This is done to prevent further damage and restore and stabilize the tooth.  For some patients, a local anesthetic is administered to the infected area.  A small scaling instrument or ultrasonic cleaning device is then used to remove the deposits.  Removing the bacteria from beneath the gums allows the gums to heal and restore themselves properly.

Orthodontics

Straighten. All of the doctors at Minalt & Wojcicki Dental Group are certified in Invisalign.  Invisalign is the best way to straighten your teeth without the “metal mouth” look of traditional braces.  Invisalign is a series of clear, removable plastic retainers that are custom made for your teeth.  Treatment length varies depending on your dental condition, but, often, a full course of treatment takes less than one year.  For more information regarding Invisalign, call us today, or visit the official website at http://www.invisalign.com/.
